The Nigeria Basketball Federation have today, decamped the women’s u-16 players presently camped in Lagos following a 3-week postponement of the FIBA Africa u-16 women’s championship in Mozambique.
The tournament was formerly slated for August 4th to 12th, with games to be played in Beira.
According to the Vice President of the NBBF, Babs Oguande, this move became necessary following the new information from the secretariat of FIBA Africa over the postponement of the age group competition.
Oguande said the federation would have loved to keep the 15-man team in camp under the tutelage of recently appointed Humphrey Fubara and his assistant Tony Nelson, but due to the financial status of NBBF, they have no choice but to tell the team to reconvene at a later date.
The Junior D’Tigress will face Mali, Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, Madagascar, Algeria and Tunisia in a round robin format.
