Mesut Ozil will let Arsenal contract run out in search of Man United move

Ozil to swap Arsenal for Man United

With all the noise surrounding Alexis Sanchez’s potential departure from Arsenal in the summer window, the future of teammate Mesut Ozil — in a similar contract situation — was somewhat under the radar.

But according to the Mirror, Ozil has had enough of life at the Emirates under Arsene Wenger and is keen on the prospect of joining Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

The 28-year-old, Germany international, out of contract at the end of the season, is reportedly willing to let his deal run down and become a free agent next summer.

And the Mirror suggests a switch to Old Trafford might not be as far-fetched as it may seem, saying “Ozil’s advisors have put out feelers over a potential move and the feedback has been encouraging.”

Mourinho is thought to be a long-time admirer of Ozil — who is asking for £250,000-a-week from Arsenal — and has him at the top of his wish list alongside Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.

As for Sanchez, recent reports have suggested he will push for the move to Manchester City that never materialised in the last window.

But now the Sun says notoriously cash-strapped Paris Saint-Germain are ready to return for the Chile international and offer a bumper wage.

The problem for City is compounded by the fact that PSG are free to begin talks in January, while transfer rules mean City must wait until his contract expires in the summer.

Were the Ligue 1 giants to make headway on a move, the Sun says Edinson Cavani would be the player to leave.

Koeman wants to add to strike force

Everton spent heavily this summer, and then spent even more as they brought in Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford.

But manager Ronald Koeman, whose team have got off to a disappointing start, still isn’t happy with his squad.

According to the Mirror, Koeman wants to return for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, having failed to bring him in as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, and thinks he’ll get his man with a £40 million January bid.

It won’t be one-and-done for Everton, though, with the Sun adding that Bournemouth striker Joshua King also is in the Toffees’ sights.

– Caen under-17 attacker Elye Wahi has caught the eye of some of the Premier League’s top clubs, the Sun reports.

The 14-year-old has been racking up goals for the Ligue 1 side’s academy team, scoring two against PSG on Thursday, and has been likened to a younger, goal-scoring version of N’Golo Kante.
Wahi hails from Courcouronnes, the same Paris suburb as Kante, whose Chelsea team lead Liverpool, Tottenham and both Manchester clubs in pursuit of the Caen prodigy.

– Nathan Redmond has told the Daily Star he didn’t believe Southampton were ever going to sell Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool in the summer because they have plenty of money and did not need the fee.

– Arsene Wenger has said losing Kieran Gibbs in the summer hurt more than the departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Gibbs left Arsenal after 13 years to join West Brom, and could come up against his former club on Monday when the Baggies visit the Emirates.
