Cristiano Ronaldo and his family have flown to Paris ahead of the Ballon d’Or award ceremony.
The Portuguese forward is expected to pick up the trophy for the fifth time on Thursday, ahead of his on-pitch rival Lionel Messi, after a brilliant calendar year.
Real Madrid star Ronaldo has uploaded a shot of himself boarding his private jet, which is marked with his famed ‘CR7’ branding.
And his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez also took to Instagram to share a photograph of the entire family preparing to see Ronaldo crowned as the best player in the world for the second year running.
The entire family have been getting excited ahead of Thursday’s award ceremony.
His mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro posted a selfie to Instagram on Thursday morning.
She wrote: ‘Pronta para mais uma ida a Paris ✈️✈️✈️’, which translates as ‘Ready for another trip to Paris’.
The Ballon d’Or will be handed out in the French capital by outlet France Football.
There was already an expectation Ronaldo would pick up the trophy after a year in which he won the Champions League and La Liga with Real.
On Wednesday there were further hints he would be given the Ballon d’Or.
A new pair of boots from his sponsor Nike were leaked. They are white and gold and contain the dates in which Ronaldo has won the individual gong – 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
And 2017 was also included among the years, suggesting he will win the trophy again this year.
They were also named ‘Quinto Triunfo’, which means fifth triumph. Ronaldo is aiming for his fifth Ballon d’Or on Thursday.
The winner of the award is expected to be announced at 6.45pm.
While Cristiano Ronaldo was flying off to France, Lionel Messi was doing something decidedly less exciting.
While the world is going bonkers about bitcoin, few know about the underlying technology. That is, except for Messi, who is now working with Sirin Labs to promote their blockchain tech.

Cryptocurrency might be exciting to some but for most it will not exactly match up to being crowned the best footballer in the world.
