ATHLETICS: EIGHT(8) TO REPERESENT NIGERIA IN WORLD POLICE GAMES

Eight policemen will be flying the country’s flag at the 2017 World Police and fire man games in Los Angeles, the United States.

The Nigeria Police Force is competing in five events at the games which began this Monday August the 7th and is to run through to the 16th August, 2017 .

National Champion, Inspector Raphael Ubah (-100kg) is representing the country in Judo. All Africa Games bronze medallist, Abraham Onyemelusi will be in action in wrestling while Nosa Nehikhare participate in action boxing.

In athletics, Ogienakhi Martins is registered for the 100m/200m, Ekundayo Sehubo will strive for honours in the male category of the 400m event, while Goodness Thomas will partake in the female 100m and 200m event.

Yeiyah Yellow will take part in the swimming event.

the team leader, Inspector Raphael Ubah commended the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris for ensuring Nigeria participated in the games for the first time.

Ubah won two gold medals at the West Africa University Games (WAUG) held at the University of Ghana, Leghorn in 2008. He represented Nigeria at World University Games in Beijing, China.

The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial athletics event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel from across the world.
