Anthony Joshua kept fans updated on his training regime as the boxer posted a video of himself working up a sweat during an intense gym session.
The IBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight champion took to Instagram with a video of the workout captioned simply: ‘Winter Grind’.
Joshua was seen performing a series of exercises from lunges to squat jumps as he trained ahead of a potential unification bout with Joseph Parker. His promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Parker could be confirmed as Joshua’s next opponent within a fortnight as negotiations continue between the two parties.
‘We feel like there is a deal that can be in place with Parker and his team within the next week or so,’ Hearn told Sky Sports News.
‘There’s a good chance David Higgins will fly over in the next week to try and close the deal. Sometimes when you’re this close you need to get face-to-face and eye-to-eye. Work on it, keep talking, no one goes home until you make the deal.
‘There are two perfect fights for AJ – Parker and Deontay Wilder. The Wilder fight is unrealistic because of what they want. The Parker fight is a lot closer.’
A fight between Joshua and Parker would be a heavyweight title unification bout, with the New Zealander holding the WBO champion.
Joshua was announced as part of the 12 British athletes shortlisted for the 2017 Sports Personality of the Year award earlier this week.
The 28-year-old is the leading favourite for the award at the end of a season that saw him add the IBO World Heavyweight – and WBA Super Heavyweight – titles to his IBF belt with a glorious victory over Wladimir Klitschko in April.
Joshua is up against the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Harry Kane, Sir Mo Farah and Johanna Konta for the award which will be announced at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on December 17.
